: We've got the same situation in our Kids' Dept. I've been assured by management (& I believe them) that these books have been ordered from somewhere higher up the chain. Even my manager is in despair at all the junk that keeps coming in. She is zeroing out titles when she does the shop in an effort to keep down the number of books we get back in - it doesn't help very much though.

: I'm also getting summer reading titles now, months after I needed them. Some of the stuff I strip out, some I return, some I just hide in backstock if possible. But it's been a daunting task to deal with all of it. I haven't even been able to open many JUVY COUTS boxes yet - nowhere to put the books!!

: Our DM was supposed to show up last week to give us some advice on how to deal with all this stock, but she was a no-show. I'm sure she didn't have a clue about how to solve this problem. And models are no help - I've got lots of Teen Fiction modeled at 25 copies. Or Magic Treehouse modeled at 45 copies. It's insane. Just wanted you to know that I feel your pain!!

At our store we have over stock of everything, our DM told it it was all to do with the strike on the west coast and they tried to get as many books into the stores as possible, I dont know how much of this is true, but we are running out of room to put anything and nothing is selling down. But they say its like this everywhere. and our managers are doing the same thing with the E shops.
