: Long time employees watch out for writeups designed to make it easier to get rid of you. I feel like they are looking to get rid of people who they think are earning too much to improve their bottom line and replace them with newer cheaper people. It really makes me sick that loyalty counts for nothing. We are all so overloaded with work, that it is easy to target anyone you want to with anything not done and say that they need to go. That is the whole point of TOPS, an idiot proof system that anyone off the street can manage and not need any special training. How does everyone else feel about the Bookmaster 7.0 update??? Is is not harder to use?
This sounds SO much like the B&N store where I used to work. The managers would selectively write up people they didn't like, and if they couldn't find a reason for a write up, they would try to frustrate the bookseller into quitting. Reading this board, I'm amazed at how similar the tactics are acrosss the B&N
system. It's like the corrupt, sleazy, gutless managers have a network where they compare tactics. Too bad corporate condones this kind of behavior. But like you said, they save money when they churn
higher-paid employess off the payroll.
