I guess it depends on how strict your managers are about it. We are required to ask every person, and we are supposed to detail the benefits of the card. I usually say, "Do you have a Reader's Advantage" and proceed if they don't, unless they are spending some huge amount of money. I know that's not what you're supposed to do, but whatever. I hate the stupid card. I REALLY hate it when people are rude to me when I ask, or when they try to strike up a (sarcastic) conversation about it. It's not like I like the stupid thing! It's not like I even personally care if you buy one or not. If you consider it a rip-off, no one is forcing you to join.
