: how much does a new B&N employee make nowadays?
: : This message board has become tame, and a number of messages have disappeared. (I know Wes - changes).
: : I notice a new B&N employees non (or anti) union site is on the net. God save us from these idiots!
: : The point is that we are all pissed off about being underpaid, undervalued (though yes they love us!) and overworked. Well the majority of us are highly educated people who are committed to literature and devoted to our jobs. We bring a level of quality to the stores that B & N certainly do not pay for and do not deserve.
: : But they don't care about quality - all they care about is profit, and that profit is derived at the cost of underpaying us. We, the poorest of all, subsidize B&N. This is not acceptable.
: : Now, you cannot negotiate with these people on an individual level, because at the individual level you have no negotiating power whatsoever, and power is what it is all about. These people are not going to do the "decent" thing and pay what we deserve, on the contrary, they will, without any hesitation, abuse their power and get rid of "troublemakers", no matter how much you have dedicated yourself to them in the past. The name of the game is profit.
: : We have to unionize, and fast. The best way to do it is, in my opinion, to contact a union and set up a situation whereby employees across the country can join the same union through the click of a button on the internet.
: : That saves all the hassle of risking your position at work by passing out leaflets to people who are going to run to the boss about you.
: : When we have a large enough percentage of members we will then be able to make effective demands.
: : Anyone with me on this?
please help me...thay are killing me, not to be so dramatic, but my 3rd b&n, 2682, bellingham, wa, is a total disaster, no one will tell me how to go beyond the dm... please help...
