Maybe corp. is just trying to be P.C., and not offend anyone who is not Christian, with the way the world is right now. Maybe we should just designate each side of the store for each holiday - Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan, and Kwaanza. But then someone would still be offended by THAT! Thus, safer to have no decorations?!
: I've worked for B&N for quite awhile, but this is the first year that we've been instructed not to decorate for the holidays. We used to put up red bows on the endcaps, we placed a huge wreath over the cashwrap area, we used a 4-foot artificial tree for our "Giving Tree" program. This year they're sending us a "flexible box" to use, plus we put up a sign.
: I'd like to know if stores all over the country have been told "No holiday decorations" or if this is a regional situation. I'm not talking about wanting to put up garish holiday-specific decorations - I'd be happy with a few bows or artificial evergreen boughs. Every other store I've been in has holiday decorations galore! So I'm curious as to company policy this year.
: Thanks for the info.
